4 Victims Shot at Howe Park Sacramento - Unauthorized Gathering Turns Violent
Saturday night, a large unauthorized party of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area descended into chaos when between 20 and 25 shots were discharged as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were actively breaking up the gathering.
How Events Unfolded
Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department got reports concerning subjects possibly armed with concealed weapons at Howe Park. A second caller indicated a reported fight and individuals fleeing the scene.
Air support was sent to the area and searched the park but did not locate any active disturbance.
Nonetheless, several hundred people had collected at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized event. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies set up around the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out over loudspeakers.
While law enforcement cleared the gathering, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds rang out — sending the crowd scattering in a panic.
Shooting Victims
Four people — one female and three males, all believed to be in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one suffered moderate injuries, and one victim sustained minor injuries. All four were said to be in stable condition. Sacramento Metro Fire provided medical assistance at the location.
At the Scene
The shooting was centered on the Cottage check here Way corridor side of the park close to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The Home Depot store was placed under temporary lockdown. More shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with projectile damage found in the metal fence around the nearby Home Depot — pointing to a shooter firing south from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. CSI units and detectives worked the scene overnight.
What We Know About Suspects
According to scanner audio, it was revealed that a suspect car — a Kia automobile — here was detained in nearby Solano County with four suspects detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were sent to transport the suspects back and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation. Footage confirmed that two individuals fired Sacramento County Sheriff shooting investigation weapons.
